Corporate Climate Response, London

20-21 May 2008
– Corporate Climate Response, London

The fourth annual Corporate Climate Response - London event takes an in-depth, detailed look at two of the most pressing topics in climate response: the UK's new mandatory carbon trading system and climate change's impact on the food sector. The summit program includes three streams:

a) Measuring your Carbon Footprint -Calculating emissions from business operations, products and services can be a difficult task. This interactive workshop will provide guidance for those who are facing this challenge.

b) Countdown to the Carbon Reduction Commitment : Preparing corporates for the UK's New Mandatory Carbon Trading Scheme - The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) is the UK's new mandatory carbon trading scheme targeting emissions from around 5,000 large business and public sector organisations. The scheme covers organisations that have mandatory half-hourly metered electricity consumption greater than 6,000 MWh per year. 2008 is the qualifying year for CRC participants with electricity consumption through mandatory meters determining participation. This event provides the very latest update on how the final trading scheme will operate and offers practical advice on how to comply efficiently and cost-effectively.

c) Climate Change and the Food Industry : Reducing Climate Impact across the Food Supply Chain - The food supply chain is one of the most complex and largest industry sectors in the world. As such, the food industry is highly susceptible to the impacts of climate change and responding to its risks is now part of the mission of most food companies. This day will examine the top climate change issues affecting food retailers, processors, and manufacturers. Corporate and industry experts will examine carbon reduction and climate impact at every stage of the food supply chain from agriculture through to waste. Supply Chain Consulting is a Silver Sponsor of this event and will showcase CarbonView™, the world's leading proactive carbon management solution through a speaking engagement.

TransLog Asia

9-11 April 2008
–TransLog Asia - 1st Intra Asia Summit, Singapore

Transport and Logistics plays a pivotal role in the Singapore economy – it is a dynamic nation that continually upgrades its transport and logistics infrastructure to maintain global hub status. The transport and logistics sector has always been key to Singapore and it is a sector that is important as an industry and an enabler. As an industry, transport logistics accounts for more than 8% of GDP and as an enabler, it gives companies operating out of Singapore a significant competitive advantage. Addressing the freight transport, logistics and SCM industries – this summit will be Asia’s only event that will cover the whole range of freight transportation and logistics – from government policy to customs, legal issues, port and terminal operations, green transportation, challenges to the key players to the latest trends in technology and applications.

Supply Chain Consulting is tapped to be one of the speakers in this event. Supply Chain Consulting Vice-President for Global Product Strategy, Marketing & Product Management, Chris Buckthorp, will speak on the topic, "Carbon Conscious Supply Chains”. Mitigation of the risks associated with climate change through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is one of the greatest issues facing business today. For a business its carbon footprint is the measure of the impact that its emissions have on the environment. These emissions go beyond those created just within the four walls of the business but must include contributions related to how it buys, makes, moves, stores and sells its products in order to deliver the level of carbon reductions the world requires. As governments define national approaches and public awareness changes consumer behavior businesses need to rethink traditional models and consider carbon emissions when designing supply chains of the future.

SBF08

29 February 2008 – Seminar on Green Computing and IT for Energy Efficiency, Singapore

Green Computing tops Gartner's list of 10 hottest technologies and is predicted to dominate CIO agendas in 2008. Long-term goals around server and infrastructure virtualisation, data centre outsourcing, thin client computing, tough supplier benchmarking and even building incentive schemes that reward IT for low energy consumption, are expected to appear soon on the top of the CIO agenda. IDC has also estimated that for every dollar (US) spent on computer hardware at the moment, an additional 50 cents (US) is spent on the power to run it and cool it down. And this is expected to rise by 54% to 71 cents for every $ over the next 4 years. Carbon audits, reconfiguring data centres, deploying equipment with power consumption sensors, upgrading power supplies all help but only scratch the surface of what needs to be done.

What is the impact of going green on IT purchase decisions, acquisition policies, equipment disposal procedures, and energy management? How can energy be conserved and power consumption saved through cooling and other benefits of greener computing? When should the decision be made to upgrade or replace computers? How are policies established that encourage environmentally sound approaches?

Supply Chain Consulting is tapped to be one of the speakers in this event. Supply Chain Consulting Vice-President for Global Product Strategy, Marketing & Product Management, Chris Buckthorp, will speak on the topic, "CarbonView - Tracking of Carbon Footprint for Global Operations".
