  How does it work

Strategies to reduce carbon are likely to have a significant impact on the physical structure of a company’s supply chain. Anyone familiar with supply chain management (SCM) will have come across the practice of supply chain optimisation. This area of SCM is based on the cost optimisation of a physical supply chain network: how to buy, make, move and store products at the lowest cost. The outputs of these studies drive decisions on where products are sourced, how manufacturing plants and distribution centers are used, where they are located, and how products are moved from one place to another. A similar capability is required to facilitate the study of carbon reductions. New optimisation tools are required that combine the ability to model cost and carbon in order to accurately estimate the financial impact of different carbon reducing strategies. The CarbonView Optimiser module contains new advanced algorithms to simultaneously optimise carbon emissions versus cost.
