What is the eco-balance of a product? Products themselves do not pollute: it is the factories that make them, the trucks that transport them, the user who uses them and the incinerator that burns them.
You need life cycle thinking to understand how products impact on the
environment.
The basis of any LCA is the creation of a model that contains the amounts of all inputs and outputs of processes that occur during the life cycle of a product. This includes the production phase, distribution, use and final disposal of the product. To avoid you need to collect too much data, you need to set boundaries.
The CarbonView Footprinter module incorporates LCA databases to calculate the
static
ecological or carbon footprint of products and processes. The static footprint
information
can be uploaded into the system or created directly through the user interface.
